Austin, Texas

We had a full day in Austin, which we spent handing out flyers, catching up on emails, and eating more Mexican food. We also spent a few hours at Zilker Park just outside downtown Austin, a beautiful place centered on a glassy fresh water aquifer where people cool off on hot afternoons.

We headed towards the venue in the early evening to load in and prepare for the show at a place called Redrum. A few local bands kicked things off to a good sized, and enthusiastic crowd. Unfortunately as soon as the first few bands were finished playing, so was the crowd, leaving us to perform for only a handful of folks. On the bright side, the sound was excellent and some gas money found its way into our tank. Tonight we drive all night to make it to El Paso, Texas, for a show tomorrow evening. I was in El Paso briefly years ago to play another show, in another band, in another life. I am looking forward to seeing the town again and possibly walking across the border to visit Ciudad Juarez.
